Every cloud has a silver lining

by James B. Terry

The Boston Red Sox lost again yesterday and that seems to be the theme of the week as for the seventh straight game, Boston added one to the loss column.

The first of those seven games came in Minnesota, the final six of them came at Fenway Park, marking the first time since 1994 that the Red Sox went 0-6 on a homestand.

This is beginning to show the tale of two seasons.  Exactly one year ago today, Boston woke up with a 28-19 record.  They were half a game out of first place and Clay Buchholz was 7-0 with a 1.78 ERA.

After this homestand from hell, Boston is 20-26 and they find themselves five games out of first place.  Even the Bobby Valentine Red Sox of 2012 were 22-22 on the morning of May 23rd and only four games out of first place.  Not to mention that Buchholz is 2-4 with an ERA on the wrong side of six.

But even if the Red Sox are struggling, there is a silver lining to everything and it took the Red Sox official twitter account to find it!

You’re welcome!

Boston takes to Tampa Bay tonight to take on an also struggling Rays team.
